The most important thing in every relationship is that we do things with the love of Christ. His love is what must inspire us to be patient and kind to others. Also, we must love ourselves, but we should do it selflessly and with a fair mind.
What is Love?
According to the Bible God is love (I John 4:8). Thus, love is the nature of God and love comes from Him. Our human love is not perfect compared with God’s perfect love. We can read what the Bible says about love in I Corinthians chapter 13.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” I Corinthians 12:13:4-8
The love of God endures forever, and it is life for those who will receive it. His love in our hearts gives us joy and peace. It also helps us treat others better even if they don’t deserve it and it helps us forgive them. Jesus showed us what is love by dying on the cross and paying for our sins with His life. He also taught us to pray for our enemies so we could learn how great is the love of God.
The love of God is unconditional which means that He will always love us. He loves us even if we reject His salvation and end up being separated from Him. The fact that we face consequences in life and even in eternity doesn’t mean that God doesn’t love us. His love wants the best for us, but we must accept it.
Love can come as a feeling, but it also comes out of our will to make decisions and do good things for others.
Is homosexuality a sin?
In the beginning, God created humans male and female. Being male or female is not just physical, it’s part of our identity, of who we are. Being a female is not just being physically different from a male, there are psychological differences too. It's not something that we can just physically try to change. Homosexuality is not what God created, and because it's wrong, it will bring with it consequences to our lives. It is not the only sin there is, but like many other sins, it will only separate us from God and His Holy Spirit. We know that some people might practice it thinking that they can find happiness that way, but only with God, will we be able to find true happiness.
Why is homosexuality wrong?
If it wouldn’t be because we have the Bible we would probably struggle to differentiate right from wrong. We learn what is right and holy from the Bible, what pleases God, and what offends Him. Sometimes we already know what is good and right from our conscience. The concept of right and wrong is usually learned at an early age. We learn what is good for us vs. what is not and the consequences that this brings to our lives. And that’s basically what it is. If we do something good, it will bring good and positive things to us, it will give us peace and eventually create harmony in our lives. If we do something bad, it will bring negative things to us like hate, chaos, and destruction. Good is the foundation of life and bad or evil is the foundation of death. I’m explaining this because sadly nowadays many ideologies are rejecting good reasoning and the recognition of right from wrong bringing confusion between both. If we had these essential ideas clear in our minds we wouldn’t have any doubt recognizing that homosexuality is not how human sexuality should be and that this sexuality was essentially created as a relationship between a man and a woman. Everything else is only a creation of the sinful human mind.
